The Traveling Trader review 2026: the oldest room on the shelf, and the least beginner-friendly

Running since 2017, covering four markets, and rated by its own members as excellent teaching wrapped in a room that will not slow down for you. The praise and the warnings both come from five-star reviews, which makes this an unusually easy service to judge honestly.

Verdict

7.2/10
Our editorial score

The best-established option we cover, and the highest score we have given. Nine years of continuous operation, four markets in one subscription, daily livestreams, and reviewers who praise patience and education rather than profits — which is the healthier pattern. It is held back by a real barrier to entry that members flag themselves, by the complete absence of any published performance record, and by a price that only makes sense on the annual plan.

Before anything else. Trading stocks, options and futures carries a real risk of loss, and published data on retail derivatives accounts has repeatedly shown most of them lose money. An option can expire completely worthless, and futures are leveraged so a small adverse move costs more than you expect. Following someone else's trade does not transfer their position sizing, their account size or their experience to you. Risk only what you could lose in full.

The most useful thing on this page

The warnings come from the fans

Normally a review page has to dig for the downsides. Here they were volunteered by people who gave five stars — which makes them far more credible than anything a critic could write, and far more useful than anything we could infer.

The jargon is a wall at first

A five-star reviewer says outright that it suits advanced traders better, because the room uses a lot of trading lingo and newer members can end up not following what is being discussed. She still rates it five stars — she is describing a fit problem, not a quality problem.

From a 5-star review
Nobody is going to carry you

Another five-star member puts it bluntly: do your research, do the work, ask specific questions and you will get answers. He warns that people looking to be spoon-fed will not enjoy it, and that the founder does not soften things.

From a 5-star review
Some days he takes no trade at all

One member admits he was frustrated early on, watching the morning livestream end without an options trade being entered. He now rates that restraint as the best part of the service. If you are paying to see action every session, you will be annoyed before you are convinced.

From a 5-star review
The delivery is blunt on purpose

Described by members as upfront with no filler, and they note some people read it as rude. If you want encouragement alongside instruction, factor that in before subscribing.

From a 5-star review

Why this pattern is worth trusting

A five-star reviewer who tells you the room uses too much jargon for newcomers is not attacking the service. She is doing the thing marketing never does: describing who it fits. That is a stronger signal than a one-star review, because there is no grievance behind it.

Taken together the four warnings describe a coherent product — technical, fast, blunt, and built for people already inside the vocabulary. If that is you, the same qualities that put others off are exactly what you are paying for.

The other half of the pattern

What reviewers praise is also consistent: patience, restraint, teaching, and a founder who will tell you when you are wrong. What almost nobody claims is profit. The one member who addresses returns directly describes himself as slowly becoming consistently profitable — hedged, specific, and far more believable than a screenshot.

In a market where most listings lead with percentage cards, a review wall that talks about discipline instead is worth noticing.

Overview

What it is

The Traveling Trader is a trading and investing community on Whop run by a trader known as Z, established in 2017 and describing itself as one of the first and largest trading groups online. The subscription covers daily market livestreams, stocks and options swing trades, futures, long-term investing ideas, a recorded education library and premium Discord access. It is rated 4.9 from 443 verified buyers, and sells at $129 a month or $1,299 a year.

Scoring

Seven marks and the reasoning

Our own editorial assessment, not data from Whop.

Track record and longevity
9.0

Established in 2017, which makes it roughly 9 years old — the longest continuous history of anything we cover. In a market where most groups vanish inside three years, surviving nine is itself information.

Breadth of coverage
8.5

Stocks, options, futures and long-term investing in one subscription, with daily livestreams. Most competitors pick one lane; this one genuinely covers several without the coverage feeling thin.

Education quality
8.0

Reviewers consistently praise the recorded library and describe teaching that filters signal from noise rather than dumping content. One credits it with slowly becoming consistently profitable — carefully worded, which is a good sign.

Honesty of the room
8.0

Members describe a founder who waits rather than forces trades, who tells people when they are wrong, and who publishes free content including charity plays. The blunt reputation cuts both ways but nobody accuses him of hype.

Value at the price
6.0

$129 a month is $1,548 a year. The annual plan at $1,299 saves $249 and works out at $108.25 a month, which is the only version of this that is fairly priced.

Fit for beginners
4.5

The members themselves flag this. Heavy jargon, no hand-holding, and a delivery style that expects you to do the work. The education is genuinely good; the room is not built to be your first stop.

Independent verification
4.5

No audited record, no published win rate, no tracked equity curve. Everything rests on member testimony — of which there is a lot, spanning years, but it is still testimony.

Both columns

Pros and cons

What works

  • Established 2017 — around 9 years, the longest record we cover
  • Four markets in one subscription: stocks, options, futures, long-term investing
  • Daily livestreams rather than occasional sessions
  • Education rated above the trades by multiple reviewers
  • A founder members describe as patient, blunt and willing to take no trade at all
  • Reviews written a year and two years after joining, still positive
  • The annual plan saves $249 and is honestly priced

What does not

  • Members themselves say it suits advanced traders better
  • Heavy jargon, no hand-holding, blunt delivery
  • No published win rate, trade count or tracked record of any kind
  • $129/month is $1,548 a year on the monthly plan
  • Mastermind and lifetime tiers are referenced but not priced or explained publicly
  • One entry in the review wall is a support question rather than a review

Every review we could collect

Summarised in our own words from the public listing, most detailed first. Read KK and Lana banana before the rest — between them they describe the product better than any sales page could.

KK10 December 2025
★★★★★

The most detailed review on the listing. Three months in, says he recouped his yearly subscription fee within the first month. Singles out discipline and patience — admits he used to get frustrated watching the morning stream when no options trade was taken, and now values how deliberate the waiting is. Calls the instructional videos thorough, and says he learned the hard way by ignoring the futures guidance.

Lana banana30 April 2026
★★★★★

Rates the community and the stock picks, but warns plainly that it suits advanced traders better because of how much trading jargon gets used, which can leave newer members lost at first. Describes an upfront, no-nonsense attitude some may read as rude.

Ray2026
★★★★★

Great technical content, and says the other pros in the Discord are strong too. Adds a blunt warning of his own: do your research, do the work, ask specific questions — this is not a place for people who want to be carried.

Sandeep Nerli12 January 2026
★★★★★

Detailed lessons on options and futures that filter what is actually needed out of the noise online. Credits a focus on fundamentals and real-world application, and says he is slowly becoming consistently profitable by recognising good setups.

Alejandro Edelmann1 June 2026
★★★★★

Followed the founder on YouTube for years before joining. Praises the free public content, including plays made and donated to St. Jude Children's Hospital, and rates the premium education, practical advice and trade ideas as solid.

David4 June 2026
★★★★★

Short and direct: says the founder knows his subject and rates him among the best.

Jaime Iglesias3 April 2026
★★★★★

Rates him highly and picks out patience with trades as the standout quality.

Mihail5 August 2026

Says he learned a lot.

Two fire emojis and five stars, no text.

Not a review at all — a member using the rating to ask where the regular updates get posted. We include it because it is on the listing and because it says something about how the count is built.

The founder

Who is Z?

The group is run by a trader who goes by Z, also known as zthetrader across YouTube and X. In his own words he built The Traveling Trader to create a comprehensive trading education platform across stocks, options and futures, and a community where traders learn together rather than follow.

The member accounts are unusually consistent about his character. He waits rather than forces trades — one reviewer admits he was frustrated by that early on and now rates it the best part of the service. He is blunt to the point that some read it as rude. He tells people when they are wrong. And at least one long-time follower credits his free public output, including plays he makes and donates to St. Jude Children's Hospital, though that is a member's account and not something we can verify.

What does not exist is any independently audited trading record. That is normal for this category and it is not an accusation — but with no win rate published either, the honest position is that nine years of members renewing is the evidence, and it is indirect.

Why we use the brand mark, not his face

Deliberate. This is an independent affiliate site, not his. Putting someone's photograph in the header of a third-party site makes it look official when it is not, so we use the group's own logo for identification and nothing more.

Worth $129? Depends how much vocabulary you already have.
